Mana Orb

The Player's Mana Orb, if filled.

Life Mana Orb Reserved

The Player's Mana Orb, if all mana was reserved

Mana is spent to activate skills, and is shown on the bottom right of the screen as a blue orb. It recovers slowly over time, but can be refilled quickly with flasks.

Mechanics

Every class starts with 40 Mana and have the following character stats {{#ask:

-Has subobject::Character
Has stat id::~*mana*
[[Has stat value::>>0]]
|?Has stat text=
|format=ul
|sort=Has stat text
|mainlabel=-

}} Every two points of Intelligence grants +1 mana.[1]

Additional mana and mana regeneration can be gained from high Intelligence, passive skills, modifiers on equipment, the aura Clarity skill iconClarity, various unique items, and by helping Alira in the Deal with the Bandits quest. Clarity is important for high mana regen because it gives a flat "mana gained per second" bonus that is increased by all Mana Regeneration Rate +% modifiers.[2]

The when on Low Mana and when on Full Mana modifiers are not triggered with 0/0 mana.[3]

Calculation

Total maximum Mana can be calculated with the following formula:

Flat mana bonuses are added directly to the base mana (+X to maximum Mana). Percent-based modifiers apply to flat mana bonuses, as well as base mana and mana from Intelligence (+X% increased maximum Mana). See modifiers.

Mana Scaling

Intelligence grants +1 Mana per 2 Intelligence.

Certain unique items grant special additional scaling for Mana based on other statistics:

Mechanics Scaled by Mana

Spending Mana

Mana can be spent in the following ways:

  • By reserving mana. Certain skills reserve, i.e. make unusable, large amounts of mana in exchange for permanent buffs, auras, or curses acting as auras.

Low Mana

A character is on Low Mana when the current percentage of maximum Mana is less than or equal to 35%.

Certain unique items grant special effects based on being on Low Mana or not:

Mana on Equipment

Mana modifiers can appear on equipment as +X to maximum Mana and/or X% increased maximum Mana. Only +X to maximum Mana can appear on magic and rare items, while unique items may also have the X% increased maximum Mana modifier. Mana can appear as a prefix on amulets, rings, specific base types associated with Intelligence, and may be crafted on non-intelligence armours, but not shields. There is also a hybrid prefix modifier, X% increased Spell Damage / +X to maximum Mana, which is separate from and additive with basic +X to maximum Mana modifiers.

Mana can also appear as an implicit modifier on the following base items: Lua error: not enough memory.

The +X to maximum Mana modifier can appear in various amounts on the following base types, with the maximum possible value determined by item level. Mana can normally only appear on base types with Intelligence requirements, rings, and amulets. The highest mod is Zaffre and is available at item level 81.

The X% increased Spell Damage / +X to maximum Mana hybrid modifier can appear on staves, wands, sceptres, and daggers with the range of 5 to 39% increased Spell Damage / +8 to 28 to maximum Mana.

Jewels cannot have +X to maximum Mana affixes but can have a X% increased maximum Mana prefix:

In addition, +X to maximum Mana can be guaranteed on Body Armour, Helmets, Gloves, and Boots through the use of Essences of Misery with a range of +55 to 77.
