Far Shot is a notable Ascendancy passive skill for the Deadeye that grants increased projectile speed and Far Shot, causing projectiles to deal more damage the further it travels.

Mechanics

As the projectile begins to move from its point of origin, the attack gains more damage, capped at 30% more damage. It is important to note that damage scaling is done with respect to the total distance the projectile has traveled, not its current distance from the point of origin. Exact damage scaling yet to be determined.

It's speculated that the Ascendant's version of "Far Shot" uses the same scaling, only the "More Damage" modifier is replaced with "Increased Damage".

On Enemies

Far Shot is also used as a monster modifier. It is used by Birdmen, Maelströms, Voidbearers, as well as some unique monsters.

Presumably, monsters share the same damage mechanics as this passive.
