Bladefall is a spell. It creates a rain of weapons in an area, dealing physical damage to enemies in a sequence of volleys, each wider but less damaging than the last. Enemies can be hit multiple times where these overlap.

Skill functions and interactions

  • Spell Damage: despite the fact that it does physical damage, Bladefall is a spell and not an attack. It does not utilize weapon damage in any way. Bladefall is one of several skills that work in this manner, the others include Ethereal Knives skill iconEthereal Knives, Shockwave Totem skill iconShockwave Totem and Blade Vortex skill iconBlade Vortex.
  • Physical Damage: because Bladefall deals physical damage, it can be boosted by support gems and passive skills that are more commonly used to modify attacks, such as the Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Added Fire Damage" support gem and the Hatred skill iconHatred aura.
  • Waves: casting the spell summons five cascading waves of blades, with each wave dealing damage once (6% less damage per wave after the first), and each falling one wave's width further than the last (there is no space in between waves where damage is not dealt). Enemies can be knocked back by this skill or others, allowing for the possibility of multiple hits. The first wave of the spell will always fall where the player points the cursor on cast.
  • Area of Effect: area of effect increases and decreases apply to both the lateral width of the waves and their thickness, essentially increasing potential DPS when reduced due to the constant size of enemy hitboxes.

  • Bladefall had a bug that caused its damage per volley reduction to apply too early, reducing the damage of the first four stages. This has been fixed, which has raised its damage. To compensate, Bladefall's damage has been reduced by 25% at all levels. Bladefall now does 6% less damage per stage (up from 5%). Its damage effectiveness has been reduced from 120% to 90%.
