Japanese Translation[]

I'm just wondering.. shouldn't the translations have their own domain? For instance, German: de.pathofexilewiki.com, French: fr.pathofexilewiki.com, Russian: ru.pathofexilewiki.com, shouldn't all this be under jp.pathofexilewiki.com?--FaceLicker (talk) 14:10, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

I read this guide. in this guide,if the main page and all pages linked to from the main page are translated a sub-domain will be set up for that translation. I trying that task. If completed, translations will move ja.pathofexilewiki.com--Imomusi (talk) 14:33, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Aha! I did not notice that. Well, have fun! --FaceLicker (talk) 14:37, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Things changed a little with the Curse acquisition. Essentially, to create a new subdomain, they want to know that people actually actively edit the new language. Once the homepage and all pages linked from the homepage are translated to the new language a new subdomain can be created and the pages can be moved there. I have a question.we must add language code in category page? (example,Category:Dexterity skills/ja) Imomusi (talk) 14:47, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Yep! Iamacyborg (talk) 15:02, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
I see.thx! Imomusi (talk) 15:04, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
You also need to make sure that all translated pages are added to the category [[Category:JA]] In fact, I'd just put them in that category and not worry about the others for now. Iamacyborg (talk) 15:05, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Shouldn't it be JP since the URL country code for Japan/Japanese is in fact JP not JA. Or does it matter?--FaceLicker (talk) 15:10, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
You're right, I totally missed that, it should be JP. Imomusi, do you want me to move all the pages to /jp for you? Iamacyborg (talk) 15:23, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Please move these. JA is abbreviation for Japan in ISO 639. but jp is most poplular abbreviation in japan. Imomusi (talk) 10:26, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── I can bot that if you like, just let me know. --Nightblade (talk) 03:34, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Thx for support! If need bot working, I'll tell you. Imomusi (talk) 10:38, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
I was bored and put them all in Category:JP already!  :) --Nightblade (talk) 11:49, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
Thx! thats good.Imomusi (talk) 11:51, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
I've tidied up all the /ja pages and moved them to /jp. Iamacyborg (talk) 12:26, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Japanese Templates (and translated templates in general)[]

There may be a better way than having duplicate templates. I'm very wary of this because it means having copies of all the templates for all the languages. While this is the nature of different translations, it seems silly to need to change everything when it's only the code/logic which changes.

It would be possible to have a dictionary of UI strings which is used by templates. Each template would request strings from the list and the list would return the correct translation. There's probably an extension which already does this, if not I have some ideas about how this could be added.

If you find an extension you should talk to one of the admins. If not then pop me a message and I'll string something together. -AnnanFay (talk) 19:40, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

I don't understand how that would solve the problem of having multiple copies of templates. Transcluding {{item table header}} for example on the Japanese subdomain would look for that template on the same subdomain. Do you know of a way to transclude a template on a different subdomain? —Vinifera7 (talk) 19:48, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
Ahhh! I see now. The different translations are pretty much completely different installations? Hmm, I thought it would be possible because of how we are using pool to link the same image. I don't know of anyway to transclude a template from a different wiki. -AnnanFay (talk) 20:01, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
Well you shouldn't take what I say as authoritative in any way. —Vinifera7 (talk) 20:54, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
It's possible, but very inefficient, I believe Mrcee was encountering problems with it on the de subdomain as well. Will need to ask a Curse dev to find out exactly what is and is not possible. Iamacyborg (talk) 21:13, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
