Lua error in Module:Item2/core at line 517: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value).
They had the Witch pinned up against the cliffs, soaking in the waterfall, yet the Bandit leader somehow sensed a trap. Wary, he muttered a command that only half his men move forward to finish things. Those appointed advanced slowly, blades drawn, cautious. They encircled the Witch for one brief moment, now only an arm's length away. Then, in a flash of light, the frail woman vanished, and in her place crackled a ring of deadly lightning!
The surrounding enemies fell as one, burning, twitching, thrashing in the freezing water. The remaining bandits paused for a second, scarcely believing their eyes, and then the Witch reappeared among them. With her arrival came another shocking blast, and the remaining bandits fell at her feet, scorched and dead. On Wraeclast, even teleportation is a weapon.
Description on the official Path of Exile website [1]
Lightning Warp is a movement spell that causes the player to teleport to a location after a delay. When the teleport occurs, lightning damage is dealt in a small area around both the previous location and the new location.
Skill Functions and Interactions
- Description: When the skill is cast, the exit point is set. The caster can then attack, cast, or move until the teleport executes. The AoE lightning damage will occur wherever the player was standing when the teleport resolves and wherever the caster teleports to.
- Usage time and modifiers: Total usage time consists of casting time and delay time. Casting time is standard casting with base time of 1 second. It can be modified by cast speed modifiers. Delay time is skill effect duration and is affected by skill effect duration modifiers including skill gem's one. Base time for delay is calculated as a time needed for character to nomally run the cartesian distance between position where the spell was cast and exit position with character's current movement speed. Because of that movement speed modifiers (including conditional ones, auras, etc) also affects delay time. It is not possible to completely eliminate this delay because there is a hidden 0.1 second delay added to it.[2]
- Sequence of operations: The lightning explosion occurs before the caster leaves and after the caster arrives. This will, for example, cause the caster to take damage from monsters that explode on death that are killed by Lightning Warp.
- Death: If the caster dies before the teleport executes, the teleport will still execute, transporting the caster's corpse to the targeted location.
- Minimum Range: Lightning Warp has a minimum range, inside which a teleport won't occur unless it is blocked by a terrain obstacle. An attempt to teleport within the minimum range will default to the nearest allowable teleport distance.
- Repeat: Lightning Warp cannot be Repeated and thus cannot be supported by Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Spell Echo". [3]
Strategy
Movement
Lightning Warp is primarily used as a movement skill. To improve Lightning Warp's effectiveness as a movement skill, one should support it with Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Less Duration", Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Faster Casting", and Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Rapid Decay". If only one support gem can be used, Module Error: No skills found with q_where = skill.active_skill_name="Less Duration" will generally result in faster travel. Taking increased Skill Effect Duration passives will render Lightning Warp much less useful as a movement skill, in which case you may want to consider alternatives such as Flame Dash, Leap Slam, Whirling Blades.
Compared with Leap Slam, Lightning Warp has the advantages of not requiring any particular weapon, potentially higher speed, and slightly longer range. However, it costs more mana and requires two support gems to be fully effective. Compared with Flame Dash, Lightning Warp has the advantage of being able to be cast as many times as possible, but costs slightly more mana and has a noticeable delay.
With Arctic Armour
Lightning Warp can be used as a method of travel when using Arctic Armour, since this will allow the player to always remain stationary and thus always receive Arctic Armour's less Damage taken while stationary bonus.
