Cyclone skill screenshot.jpg

Cyclone is an skill that initiates a spinning series of attacks as the player travels to a target location.

Skill functions and interactions

Cyclone spins at the player's attack speed and deals area of effect damage twice per spin. When dual wielding, each weapon hits once per spin.

Movement: Cyclone moves to a targeted location at the player's movement speed. It cannot target an enemy. Clicking further away means the character will go further, but as soon as Cyclone starts, the character can't be controlled and will continue spinning until the final destination. Therefore, high movement speed will allow the player to start another Cyclone in a different direction sooner. However, high attack speed and low movement speed allows for more hits on a stationary enemy. Cyclone uses pathfinding to reach its target, so the character won't necessarily travel in a straight line.

The minimum travel distance is 10 units.[1]

Requires Level 4Throws a trap that damages and immobilises a single enemy for a duration based on how much damage was dealt. After the immobilise expires, a debuff remains on the enemy for a duration, lowering their movement speed by an amount which lessens over time. The affected enemy will take increased damage from traps and mines until the debuff expires. Modifiers to spell damage do not affect this skill's damage.Per 1% Quality:

will still stop movement. Movement will also stop upon hitting an object. Characters can pass through enemies for the duration of the attack. Note that this is not considered Phasing.

Though Cyclone has the movement keyword, using it will not drop the Karui spirit during a Haku mission.

Area of Effect: The base radius of Cyclone is determined from the edge of the character's hitbox (which has a radius of 2) to the edge of the melee weapon or unarmed range,[2] i.e:

 \pagecolor[RGB]{15,15,15} \color[RGB]{163,141,109} \text{Cyclone radius} = \text{Weapon range} + 2

Levelling the Cyclone gem will grant increased melee range. The range can be further improved by the Master of the Arena and Razor's Edge passive skills, Daresso's SaluteDaresso's Salute

, a unique item mod on certain weapons, or a lucky weapon corruption (up to +2). This base radius is then further augmented by increased Area of Effect Radius and increased Radius of Area Skills.

Note that, since the base radius is so small to begin with, quality on the gem will never provide more than 1 extra unit of range, and thus isn't necessary to get to 20% in order to get full potential out of it in the vast majority of cases. Consult the available area of effect calculators to determine the exact Cyclone gem quality necessary to reach the next radius threshold.

Version history

Version Changes
  • Cyclone's additional attack range per level has been lowered, and now matches the same progression as the other attack skills, gaining additional melee weapon range every 7 levels, up to +2 at level 20 (and +3 at level 21).
  • Can no longer be supported by Ruthless SupportRuthless SupportSupport, Melee, Attack

Ruthless Blows with Supported Skills deal (75-113)% more Damage with Bleeding caused by Melee Hits
This is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Place into an item socket connected to a socket containing the Active Skill Gem you wish to augment. Right click to remove from a socket.
  • Cyclone's additional melee range now applies to unarmed attacks. Cyclone now also uses pathfinding to determine where the skill will take the player (as opposed to moving in a direct line). Cyclone's description has been updated.
  • Fixed a bug where stats with the "while stationary" condition would erroneously stay active in certain cases while using Cyclone.
  • Attack skills that have their damage based on the wielded weapon have their mana costs fixed in place from level 1 onwards.
  • There was a display bug that caused Cyclone to show the wrong DPS value and attack speed. We have fixed this bug, so you'll now notice the visual DPS almost double and the attack speed on the gem shoot up a lot. In addition, we have reduced the damage of Cyclone by around 10% and have reduced the damage of its initial hit.
  • Reduced the mana cost at all levels. It now grants 0.5% increased area of effect radius per 1% of quality (was 1% per 1% quality).
  • Fixed a bug related to Cyclone where its stats could apply for a while after it ended.
  • Cyclone now attacks slightly slower and has an equivalent increase to damage. It now deals damage immediately when it is used, in addition to periodic damage. Cyclone no longer targets enemies, only locations.
  • We no longer treat Cyclone as a movement skill for the cases of Karui Spirits or flags in Capture the Flag.
  • This skill can no longer be supported by the Multistrike support gem.
  • Fixed the skill tooltip damage per second display for Cyclone.
  • Melee skills with Damage Effectiveness have been changed to having a "Deals % of Base Damage" stat.
  • The damage effectiveness of Cyclone has been increased from 35% to 40%.
  • We have also reduced the minimum distance it travels, so that you have more control. This distance is now about a third of what it was previously.
  • Cyclone has been added to the game.
