Active and temporary effects

There are five categories of effects with tree mechanics, that can be placed on characters. They have no overlap.
Various effects.

Categories:

  • Buffs - green border
  • Debuffs - red border
  • Flask Effects - gold border
  • Charges - silver border
  • Skill counters/markers (IncinerateIncinerateSpell, Fire, Channelling, AoE
    Mana Cost: (3-5)
    Cast Time: 0.20 sec
    Critical Strike Chance: 5.00%
    Damage Effectiveness: 30%
    Requires Level 12Continuously launches a torrent of fire from your hand, repeatedly damaging enemies. As you channel this spell longer, the flames spread wider close to you and spread longer directly in front of you. When you stop channelling you release a wave of fire damage over a wide and long area that will apply a powerful Ignite.Per 1% Quality:
    1% increased Fire Damage
    Deals (3-129) to (4-194) Fire Damage
    8 maximum stages
    Final wave deals 500% more Damage with Ignite
    Final wave deals 500% more Damage with Hits
    25% more Damage with Hits and Ailments for each stage
    +4 to radius per stage, up to +15
    100% increased angle per stage, up to 300%
    Final wave always Ignites

    Cast Time: 1.00 sec
    Requires Level 12Attacks a small area in front of you. Each Reave that hits an enemy increases the area of effect. The area is reset after a short period without hitting anything. Only works with Daggers, Claws, and One-Handed Swords.Per 1% Quality:
    0.5% increased Attack Speed
    Deals (100-138)% of Base Damage
    50% more Area of Effect for each stage
    +(0-4) to radius

Mechanics:

  • active - once activate stay active. They could be switched off
  • temporary - active with duration of time
  • stacking - stacks cumulating effect

Mechanics could be mixed.

    Requires Level 24Curses all targets in an area, Slowing them, and making effects on them expire more slowly.Per 1% Quality:
    Cursed Enemies have 0.5% less Action Speed
    Base duration is (5-5.95) seconds
    Cursed Enemies have (20-29)% less Action Speed
    Other effects on Cursed enemies expire 40% slower
    40% reduced Effect of Curse against Players
    +(0-7) to radius

Buffs have a green border and are shown in one row at the upper left corner. These can originate from skill gems, passive skills and unique items.

Minions and totems also generate icons. They always precede the temporary effects and are separated by a bar.

Debuffs

Bleed debuff

Debuffs have a red border and are shown in separate row below Buffs / positive effects. These can originate from skill gems, passive skills and unique items.

Requires Level 24Curses all targets in an area, causing them to grant a buff to anyone they hit with melee attacks. The buff grants more Melee Damage and increased Attack Speed.Per 1% Quality:
Cursed enemies grant 0.25% increased Attack Speed on Melee hit
Base duration is (9-10.9) seconds
Cursed enemies grant (25-35)% more Melee Physical Damage on Melee hit
Cursed enemies grant (10-19)% increased Attack Speed on Melee hit
Buff is applied for a Base Duration of 4 seconds
+(0-10) to radius

Punishment skill icon.png
is a curse cast on target and grants the Punisher buff to anyone if they hit with melee attacks cursed target.

Flask Effects

All the utility flasks and all the affixes on them can create gold bordered temporary effects. Futhermore certain uniques like Doryani's Invitation grant additional temporary effects while other flasks effects are active. Some unique flasks also grant additional effects like Divination DistillateDivination Distillate
Large Hybrid Flask
Recovers 140 Mana over 5.00 seconds
Recovers 510 Life over 5.00 seconds
Consumes 20 of 40 Charges on use
Requires Level 30(40-60)% increased Rarity of Items found during Flask effect
(12-18)% increased Quantity of Items found during Flask effect
25% increased Light Radius during Flask effect
+50% to Elemental Resistances during Flask Effect
Knowledge is fermented in pain and loss
Distilled with reflection
To quench the thirst of those
who dream of enlightenment
Right click to drink. Can only hold charges while in belt. Refills as you kill monsters.

40% increased Movement Speed
Requires Level 4Right click to drink. Can only hold charges while in belt. Refills as you kill monsters.
with a of Adrenaline suffix, both count as different effects.

The first number show the duration left, after which the charges expire. The number below is the quantity of those charges.

Minions & Totems

Shows a list of minions. The number indicates the number of minions of those kind, if there is only one a red life bar is shown instead. For more information, see the Minion and Totem articles.
