Area of effect (AoE for short) refers to a specified area in which multiple enemies can be affected by a skill. Skill gems with an area of effect have the AoE gem tag.

The size of the area is called the radius, and can be increased or reduced with passive skills, support gems and items. When modifying the radius, all radius values in the skill will be affected, even if the skill does not do damage. The passive skills that are more specific (e.g. increasing the radius of auras) will only apply to that specific group.

When an item or skill increases the area damage, it will only be applicable to skills that deal damage on that area of effect. For example, with Fireball inventory icon.pngFireball
